About this site
Sewing Book Select Japan helps people outside Japan choose Japanese sewing books. It compares the facts you need before buying: ISBN, the original title, what you can make, the size range, whether full-size patterns and seam allowances are included, and whether an English edition exists.
How we make it
- AI does the gathering and drafting; a person reviews. An AI system reads publicly available publisher pages, records each value with its source URL and the date checked, and drafts the English pages. A person reviews the data and wording before anything is published.
- Publisher information only. Values come from the publishers' own pages (currently: Boutique-sha (ブティック社), Bunka Publishing Bureau (文化出版局), Nihon Vogue (日本ヴォーグ社), Laurence King Publishing). Each field is marked verified or Not confirmed. We never turn "not stated" into "no".
- No hands-on reviews. We have not bought, read or sewn from these books, so we do not write "easy for beginners", "fits true to size" or similar impressions.
- No copying. We do not reproduce book text, patterns, diagrams or cover images. The small book graphics on this site are our own illustrations.
- English titles are our descriptive translations unless an official English edition exists, and are labelled as such.
Corrections
Publishers update pages and reprint books. If you notice a difference between our data and the publisher or the book itself, please tell us via the contact page.
Money
We plan to use affiliate links to book retailers. Commissions never change which books are listed or what the comparison says. See the Affiliate Disclosure.
